Autism Acceptance Challenge 11: Choose Your Challenge

We are halfway through the Squawkers McCaw Autism Acceptance Challenge. Over the next 2 weeks, I’ll be posting challenges about stimming, scripts, history, community, and several other topics. I have at least one post that is still undecided. For today’s challenge, let me know what else you would like to see included. I will choose a comment from this post and use it to create a future challenge.

Here are the results of the contest so far:

If you think I have missed a challenge you completed, let me know. All challenges except for number 1 (Walk in Red) will remain open through April 30.

  1. How about something on respecting boundaries, limitations, and listening when we say no. It's hard enough to speak up and when I do everyone from family to medical professionals to hairdressers take this very personally and as a cue to get defensive, pushy, and argumentative or to make a speech on willpower or overcoming my limitations . -Jennifer V

  2. I think it would be interesting to do something on the topic of technology that makes life easier for autistic folks. Maybe have people offer any devices, techniques, or apps that help improve their day to day life (a text to speech app, for example). Or just speak on how technology in general has made some things easier (online shopping, communicating via email or instant message rather than phone). Just a thought for a topic and possibly a way for people to learn about helpful tech they weren't aware of.
