  2. Bev, essentially I'm an insensitive clod. Loud noises don't bother me, I thought, until we started the remodeling on the house. The air compressor & the sawsall go through my brain like a needle.

This video, and my recent experiences, make me much more aware of noise issues.

Thanks so much for making me more aware.

  3. Another really good one Bev.

I like your approach with these videos. It's done in a way that I think would really appeal to people and increase understanding.

  4. I am a refugee from building work at the moment, the noise is driving me out of my flat every day.

Here is the interesting thing, every flat in the block is due to have a new heating system installed except mine.

For some cosmic reason I am always the exception, not only do I not have gas, (which is why I am off the radar for refurbishment) I have a coal fire, which was something of an archeological discovery for my landlord, the housing association, the officer who came out had never even seen one.

Yeah I do not appreciate noise.

  6. These videos are really first class. Short and to the point. Keep them up.

Luckily, noise isn't a problem for me. I'm mostly deaf.

  7. neither can I! And mixed noise, where there is more than one source of noise really does me in.
    xx

I am loving your co-stars by the way

  8. Thanks, all! These are my actual co-workers, and they would like everyone to know they are not really this oblivious! I am lucky to have such good actors close at hand and willing to help out.

  9. These videos are GREAT!!! My husband closes his door at work a lot, and people assume he is being antisocial. He just struggles with the noise.

Great way to spread awareness! Thank you!

  11. I like the video. Its really well done. When I was a child I used to go nuts with loud noises and voices. As a teen they would make me cry and go hide but as an adult I am better able to switch off. Its a shame you can't do that so I really feel for you. I have 2 cousins and 2 friends with Aspergers who say they also struggle with loud noises and can't switch off from them.

By the way I do blog makeovers for people who have long term difficulties such as aspergers and autism. Its a kind of hobby :) If you'd like a free blog makeover, the scheme that I run is called Write From The Heart and you can find out more information here http://writefromtheheartscheme.blogspot.com/.

  15. "Get off your high horse" "You need to learn to be a team player" "what a *#%@!" "Frankly, as your boss, I sense you're trying to minimize your exposure. This doesn't bode well for your future employment" etc. I've heard it all! I've never liked to work in fishbowls either. =P

  16. We came to a compromise at my job. Somebody complained that I would work in my office with the lights turned off and they found a regulation that there should be at least one light turned on in every office during working hours (for purposes of safety). But my overhead lights were fluorescent and they flickered and would simply make me miserable.

Luckily my next door neighbour brought in a pole lamp from home which is not too bright and barely meets the requirements of a light being turned on (for safety reasons). Now that other person doesn't bother me even though they would like to. It's not personal. That person nitpicks every regulation to try to make others as miserable as they are. But I'm ok now.
