Rocking and flapping and stims, oh my!

Another amazing video by Christschool.

Note: As far as I know, the person seen in the last part of this video has not publicly identified himself as autistic. Nevertheless,I think most would agree that these behaviors have not had a devastating effect on his life. Rock on!

  1. Hello, I'm a late commer to your blog, as I've only recently started to expect that I have Asperger's. I have a thing where I have to start at the beginning of everything, so, intrigued by your most recent blog posts, I went to the very beginning of your blog. This is why my first comment to you is on an earlier post.

Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for posting this video. I was bouncing my leg and chewing on my thumb nail as I watched it, and feeling guilty for doing so. But, watching that video made me feel kind of proud of my leg bouncing and thumb nail chewing.

    Again, thank you!

  2. Great video! Most people would still consider "rocking" to be "unacceptable behaviour". But you see, Bill didn't rise through the ranks of some stifling and confirming corporation. He was his own person. He owned it from day one. He was the emperor, and as such, nobody was going to write him a poor review or put him on a Performance Improvement Plan for rocking. The true review of his performance was the success of his own company. He was very fortunate to have begun at the top, where he could thrive to his fullest and be the master of his own destiny and call the shots.

Had he begun in the mail room on the ground floor as an employee a complete set of different circumstances would have ensued.

Moral of the story? In a world where acceptance is yet to be given, sometimes it pays to break apart from the mold and be your own person and master of your own destiny.
